Privacy Policy

LabTools is a laboratory calculation toolkit — dilution and molarity calculators, calibration and validation statistics, a periodic table, a particle counter, and related utilities for analytical chemistry work. It is built and published by Brainstormer Labs ("we," "us").

This policy explains what information LabTools processes, why, and which service providers are involved. The app is designed so that your calculator data and laboratory records are processed locally: they do not pass through a server operated by us and are not included in analytics events. Limited network services are used for optional subscriptions, optional product analytics, and loading optional online content, as described below.

LabTools does not require registration, an email address, or any personal identifier to use any calculator. Information you type into the app — such as dilution values, calibration data points, an operator name or Report ID, a maintenance log entry, QC data, or troubleshooting notes — is used solely to run the requested tool or build the document, and is saved only in the app's local storage on your device (see Section 7). None of this laboratory content is transmitted to us or to PostHog.

If you choose to export a report as PDF or Excel and share it yourself (email, messaging app, cloud drive), that sharing happens through your device's native share sheet and is governed by the policy of whichever app or service you send it to — not by us.

LabTools requests camera or photo-library access only when you choose a feature that needs it:

• Particle Counter — lets you photograph a Petri dish or hemocytometer slide so the app can help you count particles or colonies. The photo is analyzed and displayed on your device; it is not uploaded anywhere.
• OCR-assisted input — lets you scan numbers or labels. Recognition runs locally on your device; the image and recognized text are not sent to us or to product analytics.
• PDF Report Template — lets you attach a logo image (from your camera or photo library) to the header of your generated PDF reports.
• Troubleshooting support — lets you optionally attach a photo to an email you choose to send. The attachment leaves your device only when you send that email through your selected email provider.

LabTools does not automatically upload camera or library images to a LabTools server or to PostHog. Reports or support emails that you intentionally share are handled by the external app or service you select.

LabTools offers a 7-day free trial followed by an optional PRO subscription that unlocks additional calculators and report exports. Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing and managed by RevenueCat, a subscription-infrastructure provider we use to verify entitlement status across your devices and reinstalls.

When you open the app or the PRO paywall, RevenueCat's SDK generates an anonymous device identifier (not tied to your name, email, or Google account) and may receive:

• that anonymous App User ID,
• purchase and transaction data from Google Play (product purchased, price, renewal status),
• basic device/app metadata (app version, platform) needed to validate the entitlement.

We do not receive your payment details (card number, billing address) — those are handled directly by Google Play. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy for details on their handling of this data.

LabTools includes optional product analytics powered by PostHog. Analytics is off by default on a new installation. No analytics event is sent unless you intentionally enable Help improve LabTools in Settings → Data. Your consent is the basis for this processing, and you can withdraw it at any time by turning the same setting off.

If enabled, LabTools may send the following limited events:

• that the app, a calculator, a feature, the history screen, or the paywall was opened;
• that a calculation was completed or an archive record was saved, together with the calculator identifier;
• the access category involved (free, trial, PRO, or locked);
• a subscription plan-selection or purchase-completion event; and
• whether an in-app search returned any results — not the search text.

These events may include SDK metadata needed to count anonymous installations and sessions, such as a randomly generated distinct identifier, session identifier, app version/build, app package, operating-system name/version, SDK version, and general device type.

Analytics never includes calculator inputs or results, formulas, report content, operator or instrument names, maintenance/QC records, notes, OCR text, search terms, images, contact details, or precise location. Session replay, surveys, feature flags, person profiles, advertising features, and automatic app-lifecycle capture are disabled. GeoIP enrichment is disabled; as with any internet request, PostHog may still receive an IP address at the network transport layer.

Events are sent to PostHog EU Cloud. We use them only to understand aggregate feature use and improve LabTools, and retain them only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes under our PostHog project-retention settings. We do not sell analytics data or use it for advertising. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.

Everything LabTools does with information happens for one of these reasons:

• to run the calculation, chart, or conversion you asked for;
• to remember your inputs, settings, and PDF template preferences between sessions;
• to generate the PDF or Excel report you export;
• to check whether your 7-day trial or PRO subscription is active;
• to schedule the local maintenance reminders you set up; and
• if you opt in, to understand aggregate feature usage and improve the app.

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build behavioral profiles, and we do not sell or rent any information to third parties.

LabTools stores app data — language and theme preferences, calculator inputs, saved records, QC profiles, PDF template settings, maintenance logs, and your analytics choice — in local app storage on your device. This laboratory and settings data:

• never leaves your device under normal use;
• is not backed up to any server we control;
• is removed if you clear LabTools storage in Android Settings or uninstall the app.

The in-app Clear Saved Data action removes saved records, settings, and the analytics preference, returning analytics to off. It intentionally preserves only a local first-install/trial marker so that clearing data cannot restart the free-trial period. This marker is not used for advertising or analytics.

We do not hold a server copy of your calculator or laboratory records. Analytics and subscription-provider data are separate and are described in Sections 4, 5, and 9.

The Maintenance Log feature can schedule local reminders (e.g., "Instrument service due") for tasks you set up. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device using the operating system's local notification system — no push-notification server is involved, and no notification content is sent to us or anyone else.

LabTools uses the following service providers for limited, defined purposes:

LabTools contains no advertising SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. Reference links that you choose to open are handled by your browser and are governed by the destination site's privacy policy.

Android will ask for the following permissions the first time a relevant feature is used — never at install and never all at once:

You can grant or revoke any of these at any time from your device's Settings → Apps → LabTools → Permissions, without losing access to the rest of the app.

The app also uses ordinary network access for subscription verification, optional analytics, opening links, and loading optional 3D models. Android does not present network access as a runtime permission.

LabTools is a professional/educational laboratory tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has no account system, and optional analytics is off by default. If you believe a child has provided information through an enabled third-party service, contact us so we can assess and address the request.

Depending on your location, data-protection laws may provide rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of personal data, and to withdraw consent. LabTools provides the following practical controls:

• Access & portability — your data is visible directly in the app that created it, and exportable any time via the app's own PDF/Excel export.
• Deletion — uninstalling LabTools, or clearing its storage in Android Settings, permanently removes all locally stored data.
• Analytics choice — optional analytics is off by default. You can enable or disable it at any time under Settings → Data. Disabling it stops future analytics events; it does not retroactively delete events already sent.
• Analytics requests — use Settings → Data → Request analytics data deletion to open a prefilled email request. When available, it includes the anonymous PostHog and RevenueCat identifiers for that app installation so we can locate the relevant service data. Sending the email is your choice. This request does not delete local calculator records or Google Play purchase history.
• Account deletion — since LabTools does not use user accounts or registration, there is no user account data to delete.
• Subscription data — the in-app deletion request can include the anonymous RevenueCat App User ID for this installation. For Google Play purchase history or payment information, contact Google directly; we cannot alter records that Google maintains.

You may also lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in your country or region.

Your calculator and report data remains on your device unless you intentionally export or share it. Protect the device as you would any device holding laboratory files (for example, with a screen lock and current OS security updates). Network communications with Google Play, RevenueCat, PostHog, and online content hosts use encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely risk-free.

LabTools is available worldwide and is offered in English, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, French, and Spanish. Calculator and laboratory records remain local unless you intentionally share them. If you opt in to analytics, events are sent to PostHog's EU Cloud environment. Google Play, RevenueCat, PostHog, and online content providers may process or transfer limited service data under their own policies and applicable transfer safeguards.

We may update this policy as LabTools evolves — for example, if a future feature introduces a new third-party service. We'll update the "Effective" date at the top of this page when we do. Material changes affecting how your information is handled will be called out clearly on this page rather than buried in a version bump.
